Eskrima Seminar - WIth World Reknown 8th. Degree Black Belt - Master Anthony Kleemans

Master Kleeman began his training in 1976 with Tang Soo Do. After starting Eskrima training in 1985, he went on to become 1989, 92 and 93 World Eskrima Heavyweight Champion.

As a kickboxer, he became State Amateur champion in 1990 and 91. When asked "Why do you Fight?" he replies "To prove my knowledge and beleifs and learn what works."

Anthony is an ex-firefighter and unarmed/unconventional tactics instructor for the Northern Territory Police Force and the Australian Army.

In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where he began instructing at the jet centre and House of Champions in the illustrious company of Benny 'The Jet' Urquidez and Pete 'Sugarfoot' Cunningham. As an actor and Hollywood stuntman, Anthony has appeared in such movies as Fire Down Below, Grosse Point Blank and Sea Biscuit.

The WEKAF Melbourne Invitational Tournament
was held at Monash University Kickboxing Club on the 1st May
2004 by the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation .

The day started with a seminar in the morning and then a round robin tournament . Four Eskrimadors from the East Coast Doce Pares Institute travelled to Melbourne to participate. They were:Salvador Dee Japon Jr (Current Australian champion), Ann-Maree Lauder, Dorota Skibinski and Jasmina Bajraktarevic-Hayward.


First timer Dorota was the first to fight, winning her bout against Nadia from South Australia.
First timer Ann-Maree then won against Dorota and went on to a draw against Nadia (SA). A deciding round was fought which was won by Nadia. Jasmina then fought Litsa (SA) and won in just two rounds with a technical
knockout.

Salvador was first sucessful against Master Vince Paumbo of SA, but lost later in the day.

Overall the day was a sucess. All competitors were awarded a medal and certificate.
